Canine Relate Dog Training is run by me, Celia Bourne. I have more than 40 years of experience in training dogs and teaching dog owners to train their pets and have worked with/for a number of organisations including The Kennel Club, Dogs Trust, RSPCA, Guide Dogs for the Blind, DOGaid (assistance in disability), etc. Since 2006 I have worked as a Dog Warden for South Gloucestershire Council handling a large number of dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments! I deal with all manner of issues concerning dogs in the community and actively promote responsible ownership giving advice to owners and working with the police, RSPCA, housing providers etc.

My Qualifications and training experience

Over the past 40 years, I have successfully trained, judged, and competed in many dog sports with my own dogs. I have had numerous dogs of various breeds and all rescues. Many of them I have taken on with serious problems so I understand all too well how owners love their dogs but despair when their behaviour is less than perfect! Academic courses are fine but I believe if you are going to help owners you must have hands-on experience – you can’t learn practical skills any other way!

I have many qualifications in dog training and behaviour, among them a degree from Hull University, HNC, City & Guilds, etc etc. I am ever keen to learn more about dogs and attend seminars and training workshops by the world’s best trainers to this end. I am a firm believer though that theory learning, while useful, is not nearly as important as the training dogs give us! They are the best teachers. I aim to help owners understand what their dogs are trying to tell them to improve their relationship and facilitate training. It’s all about communication.
